•    You get to live vicariously through their fashions. Let’s face it. Most of us don’t have a chance at carrying off Lolita, gothic, punk, high-fashion sophisticate or little-girl perfect styles. But it sure is fun to see dolly models flaunting them with abandon!

•    They’re bits of virtuosity. OK, maybe my perfectionist tendency is showing through right now, but honestly, when so few things in life are really perfect, it thrills me to see the trait at its finest in dollmakers’ renderings. There may be famines and war, political corruption and disease, and every other malice under the sun, but at least we can have ideal doll sanctuaries. (Speaking of perfect, have you seen the works of Otake Kyo shown in July DOLLS?)

More reasons coming soon. Keep posted.
