|I Have an Alice Confession to Make|
And I became hyper aware of this fact as I was thrust into the Alice craze happening in the doll world and beyond, largely in part to the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland that just opened Friday.
The last few weeks I’ve been immersed in Alice culture: editing the story by Stephanie Finnegan that just published in the May issue of DOLLS; editing the story for June/July DOLLS that explores the production of Kerli’s music video for her song “Tea Party,” which is on the soundtrack for the Burton film and in which some of Goodreau Doll designer Paulette Goodreau’s dolls make an appearance. The video goes public this week, and I’ll post it as soon as it’s available.
And now I’m obsessing over the Shinedown (one of my favorite groups) song, “Her Name Is Alice,” which is also on the Alice soundtrack for the Burton film.
Despite all this, no, I still have not seen the film, but that’s going to end this Thursday night when I watch the Burton version in 3D on an UltraScreen. I’m excited and pretty OK with the fact that my first Alice movie experience is going to happen in such a big way. The lesson I’m taking from this experience? Some things are just worth waiting for so that the first time is the best.
