UFDC come and gone

Well UFDC, the largest doll convention of the year has come and gone. Which means we are in the second half of the year, and I must now concentrate on the dolls I need for next year, and all the loose ends which need tidying up. So this week I am spending my time sculpting, sewing, and drawing.

Well UFDC, the largest doll convention of the year has come and gone. Which means we are in the second half of the year, and I must now concentrate on the dolls I need for next year, and all the loose ends which need tidying up. So this week I am spending my time sculpting, sewing, and drawing.

Not that the conventions have ended for me, I have my own ( the Creedy/Goodreau Con) in sept, in orlando, 2N regional, and also the most enjoyable MDCC, our modern doll collectors convention. We have events at all these conventions, and of course details need finishing on those also.

So what does a person who has that much work to finish do? I start to sculpt one of a kind artdolls. The old saying give the busy person the job and she'll get it done, guess I just did not have enough to do. Actually I wanted to make OOAK dolls from the start. Some of them are going to be made with my existing line, and incorporate my painting talents, and some are going to be completely sculpted new dolls. Right now I am working in paperclay, but I really want to find time to learn wax over porcelain work, as I love Lucia Freidericy's work.

Can a person straddle both worlds, art dolls and manufacturing, I think so, it has been done for years, so I suspect it's just a time issue...And I might need some talented seamstresses to help me get through the sewing part! Not exactly my strongest point.

I think I should end my blog with parting words of wisdom (or an attempt at wisdom)... give everything your best try, so you can figure out what you'd like to pursue, learn everything you can about your pursuit, understand when you're sinking, reach out for assistance, and row your own rescue vessel to shore.
