If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our latest doll video. It features Goodreau Doll’s Upside Down Oz series in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the classic film. To take photos for the video, I set up in my backyard on a hot sunny day. The heat was intense, the bugs were bothersome and I procured an ongoing case of pesky poison ivy, but the light was just right for shooting. While trying to ignore the natural elements, and posing and reposing, adjusting and readjusting dolls in different settings and scenarios, it struck me again (as it often does) that the creative process is hard work that often isn’t pretty. But when you achieve the goal you set out to accomplish and you see the physical fruits, whether it’s the perfect sentence, photo or doll, you know that nothing quite beats the gratification gained from the creative process, and you’re doing exactly what you’re meant to do … even if a plant gives you an irritating rash in the process!
