Christmas is over and I am preparing for a new year….OK a new decade! The last 10 years have been interesting, to say the least….so I have to believe that the next 10 years will be also. 10 years ago, my doll hobby began the transformation into a doll show business when I left Corporate America and decided to play with dolls, professionally. It started with the Reno show and spread from there. As promoters wanted to leave the industry, I just hated to see our beloved doll world shrink, so, over the years, I bought the shows in Salt Lake, the Northwest, San Jose and San Diego as well as opening new markets in Roseville, Boise and Albuquerque. I can’t imagine what I was thinking, I ended up with more shows than I could manage (19!) with the staff of me and my husband (and he had a job)…so I sold some and cut back on some to find the right balance for myself and the collectors that we serve. My service commitment to the doll & teddy bear industries is as strong as ever, through my show network and the encouragement to show promoters throughout the country. As a collector, I didn’t get any dolls or doll goodies for Christmas…..so I look forward to the shows in January to continue the quest for dolls that make my heart sing! See you in the New Year! |
