When people ask me what I do for a living and I explain DOLLS magazine, non-collectors don’t get it. Their immediate assumption is either the magazine is about the type of playthings seen at big box stores … or at most, they imagine cheap and trinket-y porcelain dolls that can be found at dollar stores across the country. But they don’t realize that dolls are art.

Hi to all and happy first week of February! So far it has been a miserable winter here, lots of rain, snow and cold. The good news is that February brings my Lenten roses into bloom (they are an amazing winter bloomer) and I have a month full of doll shows to lift my spirits!

Who doesn't love the thought of warm weather when it is freezing outside!  Last week we braved a winter drive to balmy San Diego, and it was just that.  To quote my good friend who was also there, 'don't bother me, surf's up'....and it was, to 14ft! We had a terrific 2 days of dolls, teddy bears, and so much more.
