Jack Johnston Art Dolls and ProSculpt have announced the winners of their ProSculpt Contest for one-of-a-kind sculptures. There were three categories in the contest: Professional, Advanced, and Beginning, and the winner of each category will receive a year’s supply of ProSculpt clay (12 bars). Lesser prizes were awarded to the second and third-place winners in each category.

Skinner, Inc. will host a Discovery auction May 16 and 17 in its Marlborough, Mass., gallery. The sale presents a varied assortment of antique dolls, vintage toys, collectibles, ephemera, and books, as well as furniture and decorative objects with more than 1200 lots on offer.

Masterpiece Dolls will reveal a new collection of lifelike vinyl dolls May 1 in the Sneak Preview section of the company’s website. Masterpiece’s May collection will include dolls from 26 to 48 inches tall, including a new “Let’s Play Dress Up” boy doll to accompany the previously released 29-inch girls that come without outfits, allowing collectors to dress them as they wish.

"POUT," the world premiere exhibition of high-end fashion dolls by Integrity Toys, will be on show at Chadstone - The Fashion Capital and Chatswood Chase Sydney in Sydney, Australia, from March 5 to April 1, 2012. This exhibit will feature a collection of approximately 70 of some of Integrity Toys' favorite Fashion Royalty dolls, furniture, and accessories. The exhibit will be featured on a built-to-scale fashion stage designed with inspiration from the runways of Paris.

The Industry's Choice winners for the 2012 DOTY Awards were announced at the IDEX show in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 27. Photos of all the winning dolls will be published in the June 2012 issue of DOLLS, along with the ballot and voting information for this year's Public's Choice awards.

DOLLS magazine has announced that it is suspending its 2012 DOLLS Awards of Excellence (DAE) program following the merger of DOLLS with Doll Reader, which has already announced its Industry Choice winners for its own DOTY Awards for 2012.

DOLLS will complete the DOTY Awards process for 2012 by publishing the Public Choice ballot in the June issue of the magazine, which will be released in early May. Winners will be announced this fall. In addition, the two awards programs will be combined next year, with registration for the 2013 competition opening this fall.

The two premiere publications covering doll collecting, DOLLS and Doll Reader, will merge into one title in 2012 published under the name DOLLS by Jones Publishing. The deal was announced Jan. 27 at the Debut of Dolls and DOTY Awards Banquet during the IDEX trade show in Orlando, Fla. Jones Publishing also presented its Lifetime Achievement award to Maggie Iacono at the same event.

On Jan. 26-29, 2012, the internationally acclaimed doll show—IDEX Premiere 2012—will be held at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld. The show offers something for doll collectors of all interests—from ball-jointed dolls to fashion dolls, classic collector favorites and more. Additionally, exciting events will roll out the Debut of Dolls, a Roaring ’20s BJD Extravaganza, Tiny Treasures Contest and Awards, and so much more. The Alexander Doll Company and well-known auction house Theriault’s hosted a gala reception at the Alexander company headquarters in New York Nov. 19 before Theriault’s auction of author and socialite Candy Spelling’s rare, vintage Madame Alexander doll collection at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York Nov. 20.
